Most of today's vehicles come with an "Engine Oil Life Monitor." Great, one less thing to track! Without going into all the details of "how is that accomplished," the computer monitors all your driving conditions and takes a "scientific guess" according to known factors such as mileage, time, different engine demands on the oil, etc., creating the need for oil service.
What the system "doesn't do" is the oil life monitors weakness. The inaccuracy occurs because the system does not know the difference between cheap conventional oil or a top-quality full synthetic like Amsoil OE Oil. Also, the oil is not sample tested like a chemist would do to have accurate testing results. What I am saying, the "oil monitor" is an OK reminder, but don't rely on the monitor for proper maintenance.
So what is a person to do? There a too many recommended variations to list here because everyone has different driving habits. If you drive ten - to fifteen thousand miles a year, we recommend an oil service (when using Amsoil OE full synthetic oil) in the spring because winter temperatures are hard on the oil. We recommend a fall oil service because we tend to drive more in the summer (or every five to six thousand miles) to have the most protection for winter.
Remember, every driving situation is different, causing different maintenance requirements. Amsoil's OE, XL, or Signature Series full synthetic oils excel in filling the needs of your driving habits; When matching the miles you drive in five months - six months to the different Amsoil oil grades and filters, you can save you time and money!
