As you already know, your vehicle most likely requires a full synthetic oil. So what's the big deal with synthetic oil? In a word, “Lubrication”! Ok, and? To put it simply, full synthetic oil is a designer lubricant and the reason for the increased cost.
You may not be aware there is 0w16 and there has been talk of even 0w8! Standard oils are not capable of such requirements; thus, the “designer synthetic oils.” The molecular structure is altered in building the "synthetic oil"and specific additives are required to meet the demanding requirements.
The easy part about quality synthetic oils is “yes, like most things automotive, you get what you pay for”! If it is inexpensive, the oil will meet required minimal standards but that is about it!
The superior lubrication does cool moving parts, make them last longer, and increases fuel mileage (Europe was using synthetic oils long before the US has for those reasons) at the same time!
Another significant part, today's motors run cleaner, allowing the oil service to be extended. With that said, be sure to check your oil a few times between changes. Why? Seventy-five hundred miles (or more depending on driving habits or Amsoi Oil product used) or six months is a long time and distance to go without some consumption.
