Lawn mowing and motorcycle season are coming to an end. A Question, what do you do to prep your lawn mower for storage? Here is an easy guide for the do-it-yourself.
A. Clean the mower deck underneath and coat it with oil or even cooking oil.
B. Remove the mower blades and sharpen and coat them with oil.
C. Fill the gas tank with ethanol-free gasoline and add your Amsoil gas stabilizer for long-term storage.   I have disconnected the gas line from the motor and ran the engine till it stopped. The other school of thought is to run the engine to be sure there is stabilizer in the carburetor.    Both seem to work.
D. Check the spark plug/s and air filter and replace them as needed.E. I like to drain the oil and replace the oil filter if your mower has one.
F. Check and inflate tires as needed. Look over for missing, loose, or broken parts and inspect belts.
G. When storing, it does not hurt to cover the mower as long as air can circulate. I typically don't.
H. Rodents can be a problem; take measures to protect your equipment. Happy Motoring!
I. Don't forget to remove the battery and store inside. It also does not hurt to charge the battery through the winter months.
